The Author Talks About Himself
Hello Reader,
I would like to take a moment to talk about myself as a writer and a person. Before doing so however, I would the record to show that I am not doing this out of conceit (though I do consider myself worthy of emulation) but rather because I feel that it is important for a reader to know their author. I aim to provide some relevant information about myself, but I also aim to offer a sense of who I am as a reader, as a writer, and as a person.
Myself as a Writer
As a writer, I create worlds and I alter existing worlds. World-building is one of my favorite ways to exercise my imagination. I will think up lands and stories, people and places and entire histories. Even in the books that I read (not my own) I imagine alternative endings to stories.
I enjoy reading and writing above all other things and in many ways this has made me a very driven, focused, dedicated, and hard working individual. Writing a novel is a daunting task, and it requires planning, dedication, commitment, and imagination. Having written two novels myself, I have a tremendous respect for anyone else who has accomplished the task.
I like to think that my creative writing is one of my most defining characteristics. My novels are something that I truly pour my heart and soul into; they are something that I work incredibly hard to create and polish until they are finished. Ironically, I also feel that a novel is never truly complete, it simply reaches a point where I can leave it alone and be satisfied with the job that I have done. In my head I am always thinking of alternative ways that stories and their characters could be written.
Myself as a Reader
Reading is something that defines me as a person. I am, above all else, a reader of books. In case it is not obvious, my favorite genre is fantasy (science fiction being a close second). I learned a lot from reading, and the books that I have read all influenced the way that I write. I also enjoy reading comics, manga, and manhwa, all of which have also influenced my writing style.
More Fun Information
Favorite Book:
That is a really hard question, especially given the various types of stories that I read. If pressed, I would have to say that my favorite book series is George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. A close second would be anything written by Brandon Sanderson, whom I deeply respect and admire.
Favorite Manga / Manhwa:
I have several favorites in this category as well. If I had to choose a single series, it would probably be a series called the Tower of God. I also enjoy reading the popular series' like Naruto and Bleach, among others.
Favorite Author:
Brandon Sanderson.
If you could have the superpowers of one character, who would it be:
Goku. Definitely Goku from Dragon Ball Z.
Dogs or Cats:
Definitely cats, though that does not mean that I am not a dog person. I love dogs, but prefer cats. However, I do hold a special place in my heart for Pomskies and Tibetan Mastiffs, which are two totally different animals.
Zombie Apocalypse Weapon of Choice:
I have read Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide and consider a valuable reference for such an event. Because of this, I would most definitely choose a bolt action hunting rifle for accuracy and ammo conservation. A crossbow would also be nice.
What music do you listen to while you write:
To be honest, I find it difficult to write while listening to music. It tends to distract me unless it is just right. When I do listen to music, I like to listen to musical scores from movies. They play well in the background and they do a great job of eliciting certain emotions, making it easier to get in the writing zone.
